did you fix the caster in the front after extendig the shackels??

also i feel extended shackels are a waste of time if they are not matched to the length of the springs.

but having said that have always like this old bus and always will good one gaz

Yeah Daz, the steering was a bit hairy so I wacked in a pair of caster wedges ... The steering is great now, if not a little heavy, I might try to get a pair of a less angle and see how it goes..

As for the extended shackles, the main object there is to gain a bit more space to shove in future 34's or 35's with some attention given to bump stops...
The front right spring pack has got the sags now so the next stage is to re-build the two fronts and perhaps remove a leaf from the two rears..

And thanks for the compliment...looking forward to seeing you at the shed night...
:drinkers:

What year is yours? The ribbing on the old 73 is around 3" wide and the spacer is 4" square tube so it clears well. the booster was out of an 82 bj 40 and as the 73 never had a booster on the fire wall, the spacer helped it clear the clutch master cylinder which is much closer to the brake master than later models... when I bought the old girl in '94 it had a small remote booster mounted on a bracket on the inner guard which did bugger all to assist the braking which was bloody dangerous...

i believe mine may be a 1964 model, all original but for a 327 chev and dunnydoor seat, but exactly what year im not 100 percent,it has no side vents or firewall provisions for a heater, plus has pull down handles to hold windscreen up as apposed to scew in knobs, even has the old school hub cap rims on it,lol, minus hub caps anyways

As I posted in members, Trace and I got back from Tas saturday evening and went straight to Robbos for another of his fantastic dinners with a few of the mob there.. Robbo steered me to the rear door and opened the curtains.. Well.. Shit... My first thought was whats the old 40 doing here... Then, 'Oh my gawd what have boys you done'...

I was stunned into imobility, humbled and staggered by the enormity of the generosity of you great people... I looked around and everyone is standing there grinning like chesshire cats.

It looks fantastic.. It looks 'just right'... An engineering masterpiece created with the assistance of the right beverage.. Very clever people who perhaps shouldnt have had sharp and hot tools in there hands that night from what I hear... He he

I'd like to thank from my heart the drivers of the following....

The fabulious fibre forty
The currently buckled grey ghost
The Conquering datsun comp truck
The frequently bashed red muddy 80
The camoflaged half sprung 40 ( yet to see the road )

And of course the lovely co-conspiritor Missy
