well im in need of a new battery and ive been thinking about a sealed battery for a few reasons 1 is cause i want to mount it inside the 40 between the seats and if i happen to roll the 40 again i dont wanna get covered in battery acid and 2 cause if i roll it again i dont wanna kill another battery

ive been looking at a optima redtop at $286

http://www.advanceae.com.au/catalog/pro ... ts_id=2887

or the yellow top at $295
http://www.advanceae.com.au/catalog/pro ... ts_id=2883

anyone got a opinion

considering a large standard battery will cost me about 120 there more than double the price but come with a 3 year warantee and thats something that i like the sound of

also scotto has tried to kill his by draining it dead flat several times when his alternator was playing up and its still going strong

Yeah ya hear lots of good things about them.Only down fall is $$$.

I'll get one next time i need a battery, i need a sealed battery to go inside as well. No room under bonnet with turbo, for two.

i got a battery not long before my car died, don't know if it was sealed at all, coz im useless when it comes to whats what but you can not top it up with water from the looks of it, and it cost about 180 for a truck one and came with 3 years warrenty.

but it gives enough run time for my fully sick stezza, and it cranks a diesel straight up

cheers

Dean

that will just be a maintnence free battery if you tip it upside down it will still leak

not that i plan on flopping my 40 again but i figure that a sealed battery is a good idea in a 40

I have a red top its 900 odd CCA and fires up the 3B after a month long stand still no probs. They reckon they last a lot longer and having rolled it's already saved a spill.

Having said that I got a big non sealed century battery that has hardly been used need cash $80

Two batteries but seem fairly compact and is still under bonnet.

thats close to what i had in mine when i first got it registered but with the power steering it makes it really hard to mount the battery under the bonnet due to the intermediate shaft running along the chassi there

im still tossing up making a custom battery mount for it especially considering the cost of the sealed batteries
